About this Work

This was originally titled The Erotic. But then I realized it wasn’t about the erotic. It was about devotion. To the other, to the Beloved, to the Mystery.

Most everything in this painting depicts the sacred togetherness of self and other: Don’t just follow me in reverence, she says to her bull-man-lover, meet me fully, hold my hand, walk as one with me. Don’t just feel my body, he says to her, feel the fountain of my heart that rises to meet you, endlessly. Don’t just brush my hair, she says, feel me, feel all of me, feel my heart thrumming through every thread of me.

A tenderness, a passion, a blossoming of color and life. Meet me here. In our togetherness. In our devotion.
