About this Work

“The Underworld” holds the most detail of any painting I’ve ever created. It’s an interweaving of so many characters and stories, with a range from light and benevolent to dark and subversive. It’s all material that poured through my (mostly-unfiltered) unconscious 🖤🤍

There’s a lot in this one to be discovered over time - details and connections, hints and relationships… from two of my favorite characters in the Matrix, to the pair of devil kids watching everything with curiosity, to the happy boy and girl being ferried by a dark boatman to… where?

When I imagine this painting finding its way into the world, I can see it with someone who has a naturally creative mind, who wants to be surrounded by things that stimulate a sense of exploration and imagination, curiosity and intrigue. Or it might be home in an alternative workspace where the nourishing of creativity is a paramount priority.
