Awakening of the Heart

April 22, 2015  •  3 Comments

I was recently commissioned, by a friend and collector of my works, to create an intimately personal artwork for a dear friend of hers who has been experiencing heartbreaking challenge this past year.

Not only had I never met her friend, but the artwork was meant to be a surprise gift. (How to successfully pull this one off?!)

The recipient-to-be was told that I was working on an art project, and that I wanted to ask him a few questions about his past year, and the challenges he's been facing. He agreed to speak with me via phone.

Our conversation was intimate and rich, and his honesty and vulnerability were remarkable.

Following the conversation, I let the content and energy sink into my being.

His story consolidated into a vision - of his own heart, as a landscape upon which tears of grief intertwined and alchemized into bountiful and nourishing waterfalls, precious gemstones glimmered between roots and capillaries, and a vista of spaciousness and peace opened between the clouds.

Upon seeing the artwork, he texted me:

"I am moved to tears. Thank you thank you thank you. It's beautiful."

This was a joy to hear!

I am grateful to have engaged in an artwork that has been deeply impactful and medicinal for a fellow human being.

p.s. There's been great interest from people upon hearing of this project; thus, I've opened up two spots in May so that I might engage in more work of this nature.

If you are interested in commissioning an artwork that speaks to the challenges and triumphs in your life, or the life of someone you care for, drop me a line!

The first two people who respond, and make a deposit, get first dibs (I'll let you know pricing and give you a paypal link for the deposit via email).

If you miss the first round, I'll place you on the wait list for the next window of opportunity.

Thank you. It is an honor to engage in work of this significance and magnitude.
