About “The Crystalbender”

In distortion, a sense that “there must be something wrong with me” sets in. Rigidity and perfectionism take over. The bright mind and Original Face is tainted by conditioned reality, and we believe we are the small mask, the limited self, the closed framework, the unloved and unlovable.

The awakened Crystalbender perceives through and beyond all this, with a delicate, powerful loving-seeing. Resting in the waters of compassion, the frameworks and masks are seen through to be no other than the brilliance of Being itself. Rigidity softens, the mind clears, and the fresh-born Crystalbender is bathed in the Unconditional Love of Being.

This painting was conceived during my time with the Luminous Awareness Institute in the early winter of 2021- in the (mostly virtual) company of 100 participants and teachers. The artwork exemplifies the theme of the “Crystalbender”, as viewed through the lens of LAI. It was completed in the following weeks in my Colorado studio.

I am super thrilled to order this print. I’ll put it in my office. It will inspire me. I see a timelessness in the painting. The living Buddha child of human consciousness bending the ‘crystal’ of the mind, into different shapes.
